Health Postbox Express: The vision and the promise
Portability of health related information and its accessibility at points
of care have been one of the major challenges of our health care system.
While many endeavors are ongoing towards making health data portable,
the utopian state where an individual’s health record can be pulled up
by a provider at any location and at any time remains unfulfilled.
The consequences of disruption in accessibility to health information
are many, not the least of them being sub optimal quality of care and
compromised patient safety.
Comprising of health informaticians,
healthcare administrators and physicians,
Health Postbox Express team members were
well aware of these consequences. However, it was
not until one of us had to seek health care that we
realized how the inability to exchange health information
amongst providers could affect the care that we receive.
Delay in diagnosis and treatment because of a time lag in
obtaining relevant health information; therapeutic decisions
based on incomplete information; and redundant testing due
to loss of information, all made the experience frustrating and tiresome.
As we sat back to think about what could possibly be done
to improve the situation; we realized that lack of ownership of
our health information was a central problem. How convenient
and efficient would it be if we could just carry our health records
to every provider we sought? It was with this concept in mind that
we embarked upon a venture to develop a solution where individual providers,
hospitals,
pharmacy and laboratories can securely send copies of health records
to a patient owned portal . Health Postbox Express was born from this idea.
It represents a solution by which every health care consumer can gain control
of their family's health information and share it with their providers in order
to help them make better informed decisions.
Our goal is to give you a system that is user friendly, secure,
simple and environment friendly. This is our passion. It is with
the promise that users of this system will have a seamless and more
positive health care experience than the one some of us had; we present
and recommend Health Postbox Express.
