What is PHR?
A Personal Health Record (PHR) is a collection of multiple types of health information about an individual. It includes but is not limited to personal history, family history, demographic information, records of doctor visits, medications (current and past), allergies, lab tests, hospitalization and procedures, immunization history etc. PHRs may be paper based or electronic. PHR have been most commonly provided by payers till recently. However, PHR vendors are now becoming increasingly popular. Individual can enter information themselves into the PHR or can import data into these PHRs by various means depending on the type of PHR vendor. Online PHR allows you to have access to all your vital health information at any time from any place. This can be very helpful during a routine visit to a physician and could be life saving in an emergency. PHR should not be confused with EMR (Electronic Medical Record). EMR are used by providers (Individual Physicians or Hospitals) to keep track of the care provided to patients by them. PHR is controlled by the individual but an EMR is controlled by the provider organization.

Is HePoEx.com a PHR?
Health Postbox Express is not a PHR. One of the key challenges for managing a PHR is to collect information from multiple healthcare providers who usually have completely different medical records management systems. Health Postbox Express was designed to addresses this challenge. Health Postbox Express provides a simple but secure solution to help healthcare consumers receive health records from their healthcare providers directly into their HealthVault account.


What file formats are supported by HePoEx?
Health Postbox Express support transfer of documents in Continuity of Care Record (CCR) and the Continuity of Care Document (CCD), which have become the standard formats for healthcare data transfer. However, if the provider�s system is unable to generate these formats, Health Postbox Express works with almost any electronic document formats including but not limited to PDF, GIF, TIFF, JPEG, PNG, BMP, word documents and text. Formats not currently supported can be added by sending an email to support@hepoex.com .
